Career Assistance
for Finance Majors Career Paths
The study of finance is relevant to a wide
range of occupations. Graduates with a finance major enjoy a high rate
of employment in many local, national, and international firms. Finance
majors obtain employment in banks and other financial institutions as
well as corporations.
Although most
graduates seek fulltime career employment upon
graduation, some graduates choose
to continue their formal studies in an MBA program, graduate school, or
law school. Others pursue their doctoral degree in finance or other
fields. For information about the University's graduate programs,
Job opportunities include budgeting, bank officer,
cost analyst, stock broker and financial analyst. Information on recent
career choices of our majors is available in
data from the UD employment survey.
Many students use
internship opportunities to gain significant work
experience related to the finance major with banks,
investment companies and corporations. There is
substantial recruitment of finance majors at
Delaware from both public firms and public/private
industries. For advice on course planning to prepare
for internships, the informal first place to start
is with one of your professors. Additionally, you
should consult the Finance Undergraduate Advisor,
Mr. Detwiler,
about important course and program decisions.
Top companies visit
our campus from several major cities, from New York
