Before applying for a degree in Economics,
you must do the following:
- Successfully complete at least
twenty-eight credit hours including both ECON151,
Introduction to Microeconomics, and ECON152, Introduction to
Macroeconomics.
- Students applying for the B.S. degree
in Economics (Lerner College) also must complete either MATH221 or MATH241
with a grade of C- or better.
Application for the major must be
submitted online through UDSIS. The principal criterion used to evaluate applicants is
the potential for academic success in Economics.
The Economics major at the
University of Delaware consists of either 120 credit hours (B.S.
or B.A. degree in the Lerner College of Business and Economics) or 124
credit hours (B.A. degree in the College of Arts and Sciences).
The major requires 30 credits of coursework in Economics, six credits of
statistics, plus nine credits of related work. To complete an
economics major, a student must also satisfy the
University Requirements and
Breadth Requirements.
Important: The BA Degree in the College of Arts and Sciences is
being phased out. Beginning Fall, 2007, no new students
will enter that degree. A BA degree in Economics will be
available through the Lerner College.
